Perfect Weather for riding

Saturday I rode from Wilton to Ridgefield on my road bike. 20 mile loop. I stopped by the Ridgfield Cycle Sport Bike shop for a break and a nice conversation with the owners Frank and Draha. I did not know that he is also a frame builder. I would really like to learn more about the process.

I found his website and here are details about his craft.

Let Sirius and XM merge, will you? - MarketWatch

Let Sirius and XM merge, will you? - MarketWatch: "At first, I was not a fan of any radio system that had you pay a subscription. December 8th Early Ride

Got up at 5:45 and took about 15 minutes to layer up for a cold ride. Took the Trail Rat light (7 years old now and still works perfect) . Mounted it to the Filmore and jumped out to route 7 . Headed into Wilton Center and grabbed a cup of coffee. Then rode about 10 miles more and looped back and I passed Sean on the bus. With 2 many layers had to stop and take off one sweatshirt.

The Next Page: The Limberness of the Fixed Gear Mind: "Look at all the bicyclists whizzing around town. Notice that some never stop pedaling -- until they stop moving. They're on a 'fixed gear' bike: the ultimate in simplicity in motion (if you know what you're doing)."

'Gray Googlers' strike gold - Yahoo! News

'Gray Googlers' strike gold - Yahoo! News: "The same thing happened with Gail Bjork, 63, who runs the Digicamhelp site from her home base near Tampa. She designed her site but made a friend online in Ireland who has since redesigned it for a more professional sheen. 'My background was art,' says Bjork. 'I was an art teacher. I didn't know about code. My friend does. So now she handles the design, and I operate the site.' Bjork is a former local school board member who ran a print shop with her husband. A camera buff, she started the site because her friends were always asking for photo tips. 'This started as something to help my friends, and I've gone from a 14-page site to one with over 700 pages,' she says. 'I'm legally retired now - but not mentally.' Her site brings in around $1,500 a month. Bjork's advice to others: 'For anyone, no matter what age they are, if they find something they truly love, write about it. You have nothing to lose but time. And it could really pay off.'"

Bike Buffs, Pedal Pushers Unite - 10/8/2007 - Tradeshow Week

Bike Buffs, Pedal Pushers Unite - 10/8/2007 - Tradeshow Week: "Las Vegas—Heading into this year's Interbike Intl. Bike Expo, anybody following the news might have had questions about the tradeshow's future. Heading out, attendees were likely to have few, if any, doubts about its success. Under attack from would-be competitors and cycling enthusiasts for most of the past year, and tethered to an industry rocked by scandals, Nielsen Business Media, owner of the show, managed to mollify critics and grow Interbike to record size. The show, held Sept. 26–28 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center/Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, filled 313,000 net square feet of exhibit space, according to Nielsen. The company reported preliminary total attendance of 22,000, including 11,000 buyers."

Ride a bike? You must be rich - Times Online

Ride a bike? You must be rich - Times Online: "From The Times September 21, 2007 Ride a bike? You must be rich Ben Webster, Transport Correspondent The richer people become the further they cycle, according to official figures overturning conventional wisdom that the bicycle is largely a poor man’s mode of transport. The richest fifth of the population cycle on average 2 times as far in a year as the poorest fifth. The Department for Transport’s National Travel Survey indicates that the poorest fifth, despite being five times less likely to have access to a car, are very unlikely to consider cycling as a solution to their transport needs. The London Cycling Campaign said that people on higher incomes tended to be better educated about the health benefits of cycling and more concerned with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Studies have shown that regular cyclists typically enjoy a level of fitness equivalent to someone 10 years younger, and those cycling regularly beyond their mid-thirties add two years to their life expectancy."

Boston Post Road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boston Post Road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "The Boston Post Road was a system of roads from New York City to Boston, Massachusetts, containing some of the first major highways in the United States. It began as a path to deliver the post using post riders (the first ride to lay out the Upper Post Road starting January 22, 1673), and developed into a wagon, or stage road in later colonial times. During the 19th century, pieces of the road were taken over and improved by turnpike companies. In the 1910s and 1920s, the Lower Post Road alignment (and realignments made to the route) was a National Auto Trail known as the Boston Post Road. Large sections of the various routes are still given the name Boston Post Road, much of it is now U.S. Route 1."

U.S. Route 7 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

U.S. Route 7 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Connecticut US 7 in Connecticut (also known as the Ethan Allen Highway) is mostly a surface road but has two short expressway sections in the Norwalk and Danbury areas. US 7 begins in Norwalk with a four-mile expressway to nearly the Wilton town line. There are three exits on this short section, signed as 'The Forty Third Infantry Division Memorial Highway'. Exit 1, just past Interstate 95 (the southern terminus) leads to the Central Norwalk Business District and US 1. Exit 2 leads to Route 123 which extends from US 1 in Norwalk to the New York State line, passing through the town of New Canaan. After Exit 2, the expressway reduces to four lanes from six. Exit 3 leads to Route 15 South. (known as the Merritt Parkway). This interchange was half built and only allows southbound access from the expressway—-northbound access is gained via CT Route 123 at Exit 2. The expressway section ends at Grist Mill Road in Norwalk, about a half mile past Exit 3"

Media Biz A ‘Heavy’ hitter in online video

Media Biz A ‘Heavy’ hitter in online video : "Enter the New York-based offices of Heavy - the digital media company that runs the popular young men’s online video site - and you’d think that the dot-com bust from a few years ago never happened. The two co-founders are wearing jeans. I’m offered Trail Mix while interviewing them. And the offices have not one, but two, arcade games in the lobby (Centipede and the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga combo if you’re curious). But Heavy is not one of the scores of new Web 2.0 startups that cropped up after the dot-com meltdown and are now preaching that things are different this time around. The company, founded in 1999, survived the Internet bust and is now thriving thanks to a somewhat novel approach that not all online video companies are taking: the company actually is concerned more about selling ads than building a huge audience. “Anyone can start an online video site tomorrow and attract traffic. The tools are there. But you can attract an audience that matters? You need to be able to sell that audience,” said David Carson, one of Heavy’s two co-founders and co-CEOs"
