email invite I received this morning. please join us!

Hi folks, I'm writing to let you know about Wilton's Annual Townwide Community Cleanup Day this Saturday, April 2nd.  If you're on this list it is because you've previously demonstrated an interest in pitching in to help us maintain either Wilton Woods or Bradley Park.  Let's spend a few hours this coming Saturday helping our friends and neighbors clean up Wilton.  The heavy storms that battered town this Winter have left a lot of debris and we need all the help we can get.

Volunteers will assemble at the gazebo in the village center at 9am Saturday morning.  Plastic bags, gloves, etc.  will be distributed and street assignments will be provided.  Mike Conklin of the Town Department of Environmental Affairs (and our partner on the Wilton Conservation Commission) is managing our efforts.  Please contact him at 203-563-0182 if you have questions.  If you're not able to participate this Saturday, that's okay- we simply encourage you to make an effort to clean up wherever and whenever you can.

I hope to see you all there!
  Regards, Chris Keczkemethy

Specialized’s McLaren Venge Aero Road Bike , Under 3kg ! Sub 5 lbs !!! Is that possible

Specialized's McLaren Venge Aero Road Bike Will be a Winner This WeekendBike company Specialized has worked with F1 racers McLaren to come up trumps with the McLaren Venge road bike, which will be used this weekend in the Milan-San Remo competition by Mark Cavendish, who won back in 2009.

As you can probably tell, Specialized is asking quite a bit of moolah for this one—over $8,000, in fact, though I'm reliably informed that that's not bad for a bike of this caliber. That's for the McLaren Venge, which will be available in September, but there'll be a cheaper one out at the tail-end of April, called the S-Works Venge.

It may be a road bike, but it's taken on some of the elements of an "aero" bike, weighing just 950g for the frame, and 2.07kg with everything screwed on (for the McLaren, anyway—the S-Works will weigh a bit more, at 2.18kg.)

Best of luck to the Milan-San Remo riders this weekend—we'll be watching out for news of Cavendish's winning streak continuing with the McLaren. [Specialized via BikeRadar]

Surly Cross Check is all set for the sanded shoulders of Ct !

I have done a handful of road rides on my 29er and 26 inch bikes as the weather has warmed up a bit but I am ready for a nice long road ride wit the surly. Last night I mounted the Kenda 700x42c tires and there is still room for more. I had 700x23's on all winter as I used it on my rollers. Lot of fun but nothing beats getting away from the house. That's really why we ride, right?
